  • Hickory Museum of Art 243 3RD AVE NE Hickory United States (map)

Winslow Homer was a painter and printmaker best known for his marine subjects that dealt with the theme of human struggle in an indifferent world. He enjoyed isolation and was inspired by privacy and silence—yet his work speaks volumes. We will examine his drawings, etchings, oils, watercolors and his life—all while learning about the timelessness of his powerful and expressive works.

Presenter Carl Shatley—an accomplished educator, lecturer and artist who holds a Master of Arts degree from Duke Univsersity in History and Bachelor of Arts in Art degree from Greensboro College will endeavor to bring Winslow Homer to life.
