PINT SIZE PICASSOS
Begins in September! (September 10 & 17)
2nd and 3rd Wednesdays of each month from 1 – 2 PM
3 – 5 years with accompanying adult
$12 Members, $18 Non-Members, Adults free

This is an art experience your child will love. Hear stories, play games and get messy with all sorts of art materials. Price includes both sessions. New activities each month. Pre-registration required.

HOMESCHOOL ART CLASSES
Beginning September 11!
2nd Thursday of each month from 10:30 – 11:45 AM**

**Note that the AM time is full and a new time of 1 - 2:15 PM is now available (same days). A waiting list will be made of people who wish to take the morning sessions.
 

Ages 5 years and older (must be 5 by September 1, 2014)

Students will be led through the galleries examining works of art on a student level. From gallery inspiration, students will then create artwork of their own. Different media will be used each month for experimentation such as pastels, paints, watercolor, printmaking and collage. Pre-registration required.

K – 2nd grade

Try your hand at a different medium each week – printmaking, collage, paint and clay will all be explored.

WINTER WORKSHOP

Enjoy a winter wonderland workshop on your day off from school. Create snowmen, penguins, drink hot chocolate and go on scavenger hunts through the museum. Bring a bag lunch and we will have a winter picnic!

FAMILY SOAP CARVING
Saturday, January 31
10:30 AM – 12 PM
2nd grade and older
$5 Members, $7 Non-Members
Must register by Thursday, January 29

Come as a family or come alone. You will learn to make a simple carving tool and carve your own snowman from Ivory soap. Children 2nd and 3rd grade may need adult help. A great introductory to woodcarving!

CELEBRATE!

February is Black History month and the Museum is offering this class to young artists who want to make a collage like Romare Bearden’s pictured here, paint a fun colorful picture on wood like Addie James, and create a print in the style of Jacob Lawrence. Come learn a bit of history while you enjoy making art.

INTRO TO PAINTING

Learn the basics of painting such as color mixing, proportion and size. You will paint your pet, a spring landscape and more.

Ages 7 and older

Join Christina Little who introduces children to hand sewing as they make a small animal from felt. Children under 10 should bring a helper. Limited to 10 participants.

PAINTING II

A continuation of the painting one series. If you took painting in the fall, this is the class for you! We will continue to learn new skills as we paint large Georgia O’Keeffe flowers, skies and animals.

SPRING FLING
Three Thursdays: March 12, 19 & 26, 3:30 – 4:30 PM
K – 2nd grade
$24 Members, $34 Non-Members
Must register by Tuesday, March 10

Make spring-inspired items like a “secret pocket” out of clay to hold flowers, colorful painted insects, and flowers from recycled water bottles. A great class for “budding” young artists.

SCHOLARSHIP MONEY AVAILABLE FOR CLASSES

Thanks to the LB Lane Family Foundation and Kulynych Family Foundation, HMA has scholarships available for adults and children who normally can't afford to take classes. One student recipient stated, "The reason I want to attend the Facial Facades camp is because it would help me to achieve my future dream of becoming a beautician. I will get the start I need to begin my path into the world of beauty. One day, I may be able to help people who cannot afford expensive makeovers. I also hope this would be the beginning of some new friendships."
