HOME SCHOOL Art Classes (2019/2020)

Per Class Fee: $12 | $9 HMA Members
Second Thursday of each month from 10:30-11:45. (If registration exceeds our limit, we’ll also offer a class from 1-2:15 PM.)
Ages 5 years and older (must be 5 by 10/1/2019)

Hickory Museum of Art welcomes home school parents and students to experience an art-filled, educational year of activities where the birth of a creative thought becomes a tangible object. Students will be led through the galleries while examining works of art on their level.

From gallery inspiration, students will then create artwork of their own. Different media will be used each month for experimentation. Each month will focus on a different art process/technique, utilizing the museum’s various exhibitions while teaching a broad-based knowledge of art fundamentals. Competency goals in art, language arts, and social studies will be met throughout the year following the NC Common Core and Essential Standards. Pre-registration required.

First Class: September 12, 2019.

Thanks to the LB Lane Family Foundation, HMA has scholarships available for adults and children who normally can't afford to take classes. One student recipient stated, "The reason I want to attend the Facial Facades camp is because it would help me to achieve my future dream of becoming a beautician. I will get the start I need to begin my path into the world of beauty. One day, I may be able to help people who cannot afford expensive makeovers. I also hope this would be the beginning of some new friendships."
