Fund-a-Bus Program

The Hickory Museum of Art and HMA’s Guild are dedicated to helping teachers and their students by serving as an educational resource for interdisciplinary methods of teaching within North Carolina’s educational essential standards. We feel docent-led student interaction, and discussions involving original art objects, provide unique opportunities to ignite student understanding of and enthusiasm for language arts and social studies, as well as additional core and elective curriculum areas.

Because of our dedication to education through the visual arts, the Guild has developed an initiative entitled Fund-a-Bus to help generate funds to underwrite some or all bus expenses required to transport students to the Museum to learn, create, and discover through artwork. In addition to looking, listening and discussing, students who participate in a Museum field trip also have opportunities to write and complete hands-on projects that are grounded in the North Carolina’s Essential Standards curriculum. This Museum experience is especially designed to help complement the literacy and content skills students are also learning in school.

To apply for a Fund-a-Bus scholarship for your school, please complete and submit this form. All scholarship requests will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis. Approved requests will be paid by check only on a reimbursement basis.
