Hickory Museum of Art Seeks Volunteer Exhibit Tour Guides

Hickory Museum of Art (HMA) seeks volunteer tour guides to interact with visitors throughout its upcoming photographic exhibition – Unexpected Beauty: Views from the Lens of Steve McCurry – on display in the Museum’s Coe, Entrance and Windows galleries Sept. 12, 2015 – May 8, 2016. Presented by Catawba Valley Camera Club and Hickory Museum of Art, this exciting exhibition features the works of award-winning photojournalist Steve McCurry, whose stunning, colorful images tell the beautiful and tragic stories of cultures and conflicts around the world.

A tour guide training will take place 10 – 11 a.m. Sept. 21 in the second floor Coe Gallery, Hickory Museum of Art, 243 Third Ave. NE, Hickory. The training is open to anyone interested in learning more about art, working with visitors and willing to give tours on an occasional basis. It is not necessary to be an artist or have a background in art. Ongoing tour guide trainings will take place throughout the exhibition’s run.

Tour guide opportunities are open to youth ages 10 and older, students, adults and seniors. There is no cost to attend the Sept. 21 training, but interested participants are asked to call ahead and sign-up. To register, contact Ginny Zellmer, HMA Education Manager, at 828-327-8576, ext. 216, or email gzellmer@hickoryart.org.
