On the evening of Thursday, June 28th, the Museum held its annual celebration of the accomplishments of the year just past, conducted some necessary business, presented a review of last year’s programming highlights and staff successes, and dropped some hints about the coming year's events. The meeting was set up in the Coe Gallery by the staff, some of whom are pictured conferring below left.
The happy Board co-presidents (Zack Taylor and Katie Pritchard, below right) welcomed the assembled guests and then conducted the business portion of the meeting. One new Board member (David Millholland) was nominated for next year's Board and three current Board members (Anita Doran, Zack Taylor, and Kim Whitley) were nominated for second three-year terms. The slate of four candidates was duly elected by the HMA members present, as stipulated in HMA's By-Laws, and David Millholland was formally inducted.
Jon Carfagno, HMA's 5th Executive Director as he noted, introduced HMA's new Strategic Plan and Brand Assets for 2018-2021. Staff then used the new HMA Core Beliefs as a scaffold for talking about last year's accomplishments in their respective areas of responsibility, along with providing a glimpse of the great things being planned for the coming year in celebration of HMA’s 75th Anniversary. The presentation concluded with the literal rolling out of the 75th Anniversary year logo on the banner in the background of the audience picture.
A lively reception immediately followed the meeting.
A pdf of the PowerPoint presentation from the meeting is available here as HMA's Annual Report. It includes more details about HMA's July 2017-June 2018 accomplishments.
