The 44th Annual Evening for the Arts fundraising event by HMA’s Guild this year took place at a new venue, Hickory’s Moretz Mill that offered more space for more happenings and more seating for guests. The event took place on Saturday, November 17 from  6-9 PM, and featured dance music by The Starlighters, a 15 piece Jazz Band from Lenoir, NC (yes some people did dance), live and silent auctions for art and experiences, a photo booth with 1940’s costumes provided by Hickory Community Theatre and free photos by Paul van Breemen (yay fun staff and glam Guild leaders), along with drinks, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and socializing.

The publicity art for posters and invitations was once again created by a Catawba Valley Community College student. In the annual graphic design competition with other CVCC students, the winning design (at top) was by Victor Lineberger II, an advertising and graphic design major.

Over 170 silent auction items were displayed in themed side rooms. The auctioneers for the live auction were Sandra Pait-Clay and Zack Taylor.

Above, details of donated artwork by LaFone & Brooks (a collaboration), Charles Lisk, Matthew S. Good, and Steve Brooks. These and many other donations went home with lucky new owners..

This year's raffle drawing was won by Eleanor Herbert who is still deciding which trip for two to pick: a Caribbean cruise, a ski trip to Lake Tahoe, or a five-night stay in a Fairmount hotel somewhere in the US. Not an easy choice is it Eleanor.

So as always, it was a wonderful event for the Guild, for all the contributors and supporters and volunteers, for everyone who was there, and for HMA!
