K-12 Educator's Hand's-On Art & Science Workshop

$7 HMA or NCMA Members | $10 Non-Members

In conjunction with the North Carolina Museum of Art, an educators hands-on workshop will be held March 23. The exhibition A Grand Vision: Elliott Daingerfield Paints Grandfather Mountain and the Grand Canyon will serve as the inspiration for this workshop. Participants explore the exhibition through inquiry-based discussion strategies and then experiment with expressive painting techniques inspired by nature with Hickory, NC artist Steve Brooks. Participants may bring reference photographs of trees or use one provided by the artist.

Educators will develop strategies to connect art and science that can be applied to classroom use. This workshop models strategies addressing standards in English Language Arts, Visual Art, Social Studies, and Science. Educators from all grade levels and subject areas are encouraged to attend. The workshop is open to educators first. If space allows, it will also be open to the general public.
